Windham Recovery Community Center
The Windham Recovery Community Center is in the heart of downtown Willimantic. Opened in February of 2004, CCAR Willimantic is the longest standing Recovery Community Center in Connecticut, and continues to support the “Recovery Town” community by providing a variety of groups, meetings, trainings and resources. By putting “recovery first”, CCAR Willimantic staff and volunteers “put a face on recovery” through engagement with the local community and our local partners. The Windham center prides itself on its capacity for system navigation, vocational support, recovery coaching and a safe, recovery positive atmosphere where individuals are free to seek what best supports them on their own recovery journey.
All services are free of charge. Hours, contact information, and a digital calendar of virtual support meetings we offer via Zoom are all provided below.

Phil discusses his diagnosis of diffuse aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and his reflections on dealing with cancer for the second time, emphasizing his attempts to put affairs in order and contemplate the significance of life and the possibility of an afterlife. Jackie shares her story of being diagnosed with leukemia at 17, undergoing a bone marrow transplant, and facing various long-term side effects and subsequent cancer diagnoses. The conversation also explores their attitudes towards treatment decisions, the importance of self-care, and the support they've received from their community. Throughout, both exhibit a strong sense of resilience, focusing on living in the present, the therapeutic value of creating art, and the idea of legacy and impact on others #recoverymatterspodcast Cancer Warriors: Finding Strength in Community & Self Care
